Veering Off Course

Power Hour

I had a hectic day at work and left at 5:15 with a stack of work to do. And on my way home I was thinking… I’m just too busy to go for my run today. Background: I’m training for the Marine Corps Marathon (October 31st… Washington, D.C.) and my training programs said I’m supposed to run 4 miles today. I got home, put my stuff down, changed, and got into the car. And then it was too late to change my mind. I had to run. And as long as I was going to run, I might as well run for the full 4 miles. So there it was. I didn’t really think about my decision. I knew I had the option to run or not but I just acted in the direction of my goals rather than analyzing this specific decision. And it was the right decision. And I conserved mental energy. And I looked hard-core running in the cold in my sweet underarmour.

Also, I love the Lake of the Isles. Even in the winter, it’s lit up and full of active people running, walking, skating, and playing hockey.

Now off to do some real work. Or go to bed. I’m still up in the air on that.
